Arlington, Texas- Dallas Cowboys Stadium (November 13, 2010) Showing great courage, heart and resolve, the three time welterweight champion, Antonio ''The Tijuana Tornado'' Margarito 7 (27KOs) gave the now eight division champion, the Filipino marvel Manny Pacquiao (52-3-2 (38KOs) his hardest fight-to-date, hurting the southpaw badly with a body shot in the sixth round, with Pacquiao barely able to get out of the round, who went on to win a decision for the vacant WBC Super welterweight belt. Pacquiao, who reportedly did not have his greatest camp ever, beset by all kinds of distractions, nonetheless displayed great legs, using angles on the counter, pin-point accurate power shots, picking his spots to bust up the ever aggressive and come forward Margarito's face, leaving him a virtual sitting duck for pot shooting in the championship rounds of the fight. Margarito, in his best condition ever, could just not overcome a fractured orbital bone in his right eye, which led Pacquiao to work on Margarito's left eye as well. Despite the extremely limited vision and pain the Tijuana Tornado endured, he never gave up trying to turn the fight around, giving a great account of himself at all times, fighting through to the end of the twoelve round scheduled bout. Scores were 120-108, 118-110 and 119-109. Margarito did not make the press conference after the fight, having being taken to the hospital to get the cuts taken care of, where the fractured orbital bone was discovered. He is expected to have surgery after the swelling goes down enough, most likely on Tuesday, November the 16th. Margarito stated after the fight that he is a Mexican and he would have never considered quitting in the fight. ANTONIO MARGARITO STATEMENT “I would like to congratulate Manny Pacquiao for his win on Saturday Night. It was a tough and difficult fight for me and I hope the fans enjoy our battle at Cowboys Stadium. “I also want to thank Bob Arum for always believing in me and for giving me the opportunity to fight Manny Pacquiao. I also want to thank all the fans who came to see me and who watched the fight on TV and continue to support me. “I gave it all I had, but unfortunately I was not able to get the victory over the best fighter in the world today. As I said before the fight I was never going to quit and tried to win this fight to the vegry last minute. “We had a great training camp and I want to thank Robert Garcia for a great job and everyone in Oxnard for their great hospitality. I am also very grateful with my wife Michelle, Sergio Diaz and Francisco Espinoza for all their support." Antonio Margarito is schedule to have surgery Tuesday in Dallas, and hopes to home on Wednesday. Pacquiao didn't get away unscathed with possible rib injuries. According to TMZ... Pacquiao is suffering from njuries to his ribs and wrist from his war against Margarito.
